A Batavia liquor store was burglarized early Wednesday morning, according to the Batavia Police Department.

At around 2:56 a.m. Wednesday, officers were dispatched to Windmill Market & Spirits in the 300 block of East Wilson Street for a business alarm, the police department said in a news release. There, officers found a broken window on the front of the business, but no one inside.

Officers began an investigation, the news release said, and reviewed video surveillance footage, which police said showed a silver or gray Chrysler van arriving at the business at around 2:45 a.m. after traveling southbound on North Prairie Street. Two people then exited the vehicle, broke a window of the business and entered the store, according to police.

Police said the burglars took an undetermined amount of cash and liquor, according to the release.

The two people involved then left the store and got into the passenger side of the van, which indicates that there was at least a third suspect present who remained in the vehicle, police said. The van left the store before police arrived at around 3 a.m., according to the release.

The two people who entered the business were wearing all-black clothing and black masks, police said, with one wearing black gloves and the other wearing white gloves. It’s believed that there was one man and one woman involved, police said.

There is currently no description of the possible third suspect, according to police.

Officers are canvassing the surrounding area for additional video surveillance, the news release said, as the case remains under investigation. The Batavia Police Department is asking anyone in the area of North Prairie Street, South Prairie Street and anywhere near the store with video surveillance systems to check their footage from Wednesday between 2:30 and 3:05 a.m. for the van or the possible suspects.

Anyone with video footage or further information about the incident is asked to call the department at 630-454-2500.
