REPAIRS START ON I-88 BRIDGE OVER WASHINGTON

Traffic has been shifted to the northbound side of the Washington Street bridge over Interstate 88 in Naperville as part of repair work being done by the Illinois Toll Highway Authority.

Traffic has been reduced to one lane in each direction, a tollway news release said.

The configuration is expected to remain throughout June and then traffic will shift onto the southbound side of the bridge for repairs of the northbound lanes, the release said.

Signs will be posted to help alert drivers, and overnight lane closures will be needed on I-88 in both directions.

Work, which is weather dependent, will include bridge deck repairs and resurfacing, center median replacement, and drainage and electrical work. It is expected to be complete this summer, the release said.

Similar repairs also are scheduled for the Raymond Drive, Midwest Road and Meyers Road bridges over I-88 this summer.
