A 47-year-old Geneva man died in a single-vehicle crash in the 1300 block of Crissey Avenue in Geneva Thursday night, according to a press release from the Geneva Police Department.

Geneva police, Batavia police and Geneva Fire Department personnel responded to the crash, which happened around 10 p.m. Thursday, police said.

A preliminary investigation indicates a 2017 Jeep Renegade traveling north on Crissey Avenue veered off the road and struck a tree, according to the release.

The driver of the Jeep Renegade was identified as Joseph C. Fisher III of Geneva, police said. He was extricated from the vehicle and transported by Geneva Fire Department personnel to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva, where he was pronounced dead at 10:43 p.m. Thursday, police said.

There were no passengers in the vehicle, according to the release.

Geneva police and the Kane County Coroner’s Office worked collaboratively to investigate the scene, police said. Details of the crash remain under investigation, however, there was no indication of impairment at the scene, according to the release.

A portion of Crissey Avenue was closed for three hours while law enforcement and fire department personnel were on the scene, the release said.
