Parikh fled the scene prior to the arrival of Skokie emergency personnel, according to the release.
Slivo later succumbed to his injuries, with the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office ruling his cause of death as due to multiple injuries from being struck by a minivan.

Police arrested Parikh more than a year and half after the incident.
The 2024 crash was the third in a string of fatal incidents involving vehicles striking pedestrians and cyclists.
A 27-year-old cyclist died three weeks after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Skokie Boulevard and Gross Point Road in July 2024. Two cars also struck a 37-year-old male pedestrian in the 3500 block of Oakton Street in August of that year.
