A Metra train collided with a semi truck at the Linden Avenue and Green Bay Road crossing in Wilmette on Thursday, resulting in minor injuries for two passengers, according to Wilmette Village Manager Michael Braiman.

The collision between Metra Train UP-N 337 and the truck occurred at approximately 2:46 pm, according to Metra spokesperson Martha Hill.

Braiman told the Pioneer Press only “minor injuries” were reported as a result of the collision, with one of the injured passengers later taken to the hospital by first responders.

The truck driver was able to get out of the vehicle before it collided with the train and remains uninjured, Braiman said.

Hill confirmed that no fatalities resulted from the incident.

Metra police initially responded to the scene and were still investigating the incident as of 3:30 pm.

The crossing at Linden Avenue was later closed and UP-N inbound and outbound trains temporarily halted, she added.

Commuters were advised to find alternate routes.
