An Oswego Township man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison in connection with a shooting in 2021 that killed an Aurora man, the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office said Monday.
On May 2, 2021, Ladarius A. Parker, 27, of Oswego Township, was attending a party at a home in the 1700 block of Stonegate Drive in Montgomery when he shot and killed Christopher B. McMorris, 30, of Aurora, as McMorris sat in a parked vehicle, according to the State’s Attorney’s Office.
The Montgomery Police Department — with assistance from the Fox Valley Major Crimes Task Force and the Kendall County Special Response Team — conducted the investigation into the incident, with additional assistance from the Illinois State Police Crime Lab and the Kane County Coroner’s Office, per the State’s Attorney’s Office.
Parker was ultimately arrested on Jan. 7, 2022, by the U.S. Marshals Service in Freeport.
Then, in March, a Kane County jury found Parker guilty of first-degree murder, finding that he personally discharged the firearm used in the killing, officials said.
Parker has since been sentenced to 50 years in state prison, per the State’s Attorney’s Office. He must serve the full sentence, but receives credit for 1,576 days served in the Kane County jail.
