Tyran Bolling’s girlfriend Danica Luckey said Tuesday he slammed the door as he ran downstairs.

That got her attention because a neighbor had complained about it.

As she went to tell him, she looked outside the apartment building in time to see him gunned down.

Lamont “Ski” Turentine, 32, of Chicago, is on trial this week in Bolling’s Dec. 13, 2019 shooting death in front of a home on the 4400 block of Henry Avenue in Hammond.

He has pleaded not guilty.

Luckey admitted in the stand that there were specific details she didn’t tell police initially because she thought Bolling was still alive.

Deputy Prosecutor Tara Villarreal said in opening arguments that Turentine’s girlfriend Emani “Money” Edwards started flirting with Bolling, a longtime friend and former roommate, in revenge after she found him talking to other women.

When she went inside to use a McDonald’s bathroom, Turentine looked through her phone and found the messages.

He called a friend, telling him to get him a gun. When she got back to the car, he hit her “in the face” and took the phone, Villarreal said.

Turentine continued to message Bolling, pretending to be Edwards.

“(He) thinks Emani is coming to get him,” the prosecutor said. “She knows exactly what is going to happen.”

Bolling was wounded in the jaw, chest and leg.

Turentine and Edwards eventually fled the state, first to Arkansas. They were arrested about two years later.

Defense lawyer Lakeisha Murdaugh told jurors what Villarreal said wasn’t “evidence” and Turentine was “presumed innocent.”

Prosecutors “can’t prove” the murder charge, she argued.

Outside the courtroom, Angieleic Young said her son was “very caring.” He worked as a chef and was survived by a daughter.

He and Edwards were “good friends.”

He would “help her,” since Turentine “abused her,” she said. Tried to get her “out of a bad situation.”
