
Police questioned a juvenile Monday suspected of posting “potentially hateful and concerning comments” involving Lincoln-Way East High School, according to the Will County sheriff’s.
The school was not placed on lockdown, but the sheriff’s office said officers came to the school at 10:40 a.m. and spoke with the suspect and the suspect’s family. No charges have been filed as police continue collecting evidence.
A Lincoln-Way East High School resource officer, who is also a Will County sheriff’s deputy, requested assistance in response to the online comments, the sheriff’s office said.
Lincoln-Way East Principal Toriano Griggs asked that families speak with students about “responsible use of social media and the importance of treating others with respect.”

“Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students and staff. Incidents like this are taken seriously because they affect not only those directly involved, but the overall sense of respect and belonging within our Griffin community,” Griggs said in the news release.
