A 28-year-old Aurora man has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies following a narcotics investigation, the Illinois State Police said on Wednesday.

Following an extensive narcotics investigation, the Illinois State Police Kendall County Police Assistance Team, in conjunction with the Aurora Police Department, identified Leonel Valtierrez, 28, of Aurora, as a suspect in the investigation, Illinois State Police said in a news release.

Officers executed a search warrant at his home in Aurora on Monday, the Illinois State Police said, recovering a firearm and seizing more than 120 grams of cocaine, over 2,000 grams of illegal cannabis and cannabis products and suspected MDMA pills, according to the release. Valtierrez was taken into custody at the scene, police said.

Valtierrez has since been charged with armed violence, unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent, unlawful possession of cannabis with intent, unlawful possession of a firearm with no Firearm Owner’s Identification, or FOID, card, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of cannabis, possession of MDMA with intent, possession of MDMA and possession of Psilocybin, the news release said.

Valtierrez is currently being held at the Kane County jail. He is set to appear in court next on April 22, according to Kane County court records.
