President Donald Trump received backlash over the weekend after he posted a picture on Truth Social where he portrayed himself as Jesus Christ.

The picture shows Trump wearing a red cloak with his hand over someone’s forehead, appearing to heal them.

Behind him is an American flag and two bald eagles. There is also a picture of a woman looking like she is praying to him.

Pope Leo says he does not fear Donald Trump, citing Gospel as he pushes back in feud over Iran war

This post comes duringTrump’s feud with Pope Leo XIV, who has been critical of the Iran war.

“I like his brother Louis much better than I like him, because Louis is all MAGA. He gets it, and Leo doesn’t! I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon,” Trump wrote in a lengthy post on Truth Social.

The pope said that he has “no fear of the Trump administration.”

“To put my message on the same plane as what the president has attempted to do here is to misunderstand the Gospel,” the first U.S.-born pope said over the weekend. “I’m sorry to hear that, but I will continue what I believe is the mission of the church in the world today.”

Trump’s post on Sunday came on Orthodox Easter and it was one week after Christ’s resurrection was celebrated on Easter Sunday. The president has not apologized for the image, nor has he taken the post or image down.

Regarding Trump’s post comparing himself to Jesus, many X users, including some in his own party, condemned him for the post.

“I know he’s trying to be funny, but it was a foolish post,” Rep. Don Bacon, R-Neb., said, according to CBS News. “I saw a lot of Republicans commenting in it last night. Some saying he’s just trolling, and others saying it’s anti-Christian. When you divide your own party it is self destructive. To me it was a gaudy and juvenile post.”

“That image is what happens when Paula White is your personal pastor and people around you are continually comparing you to Christ,” Blaze TV host Allie Beth Stuckey wrote on X. “Trump desperately needs to understand the bad news that precedes the Good News: you are a helpless sinner in desperate need of a Savior, as we all once were.”

“More deportations, less Jesus comparisons,” another user wrote.

“It’s inappropriate and embarrassing. It’s offensive,” Ari Fleischer, a Fox News contributor and former White House press secretary, wrote on X.

Gen. Michael Flynn’s son, Michael Flynn Jr. posted a picture captioned, “There is no other God but Jesus Christ.”
