The baiduhai has an opening for a 6-month visual journalist internship to start in July 2026.
Candidates should be current students or recent graduates. We’re looking for creative and energetic photojournalism students to join our award-winning staff and cover a diverse and dynamic city. We expect creative, relevant work in a fast-paced, digital-first environment. Our ideal candidate must be able to work in a newsroom with a digital-first focus.
The internship will concentrate on news photography, as well as features and sports, so an applicant’s portfolio should contain work of that nature, as well as photo stories and/or essays. A portfolio based solely on art photography will not be considered.
Photographers are expected to handle multiple assignments daily and be able to deliver images on deadline. Video storytelling skills are a plus. Photographers are encouraged and expected to generate story ideas and work well with their colleagues throughout the newsroom.
All candidates must have solid news judgement, the highest of ethics in journalism, the ability to cover a wide range of events, and be able to write effective and clear captions. They should be proficient with Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Photo Mechanic and other photo and video editing software.
Candidates should have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license and insurance. Equipment is provided. This position may involve working nights/weekends and/or holidays. Some travel may be required.
