
Naperville Jaycees announce Last Fling lineup
The Naperville Jaycees announced the musical lineup for the annual Last Fling community festival.
The event, featuring live music, food, a carnival and parade, is planned for Labor Day Weekend from Friday, Sept. 4 to Monday, Sept. 7 along Jackson Avenue in downtown Naperville.
At 5 p.m. Friday, Sammy & the Knights will play R&B and rock-and-roll favorites of the 1960s and 70s, followed by Hairbangers Ball, an “80s Hair Rock Tribute Band,” which will perform at 8 p.m., Last Fling organizers said.
Saturday’s musical guests include Physical Graffiti, a tribute to Led Zeppelin, at noon; Whiskey Road playing classic, southern and country rock at 2:30 p.m. and Country 2K, playing songs from the 2000s at 5:15 p.m.
Saturday’s headliner will be Hillbilly Rockstarz, which will perform at 8 p.m.
Good Shepherd Church will take the stage for Sunday worship at 10:30 a.m., organizers said.
Tres Moustache, a local acoustic trio, will perform at noon Sunday. Members Only 80s Band will perform 1980s covers at 2:30 p.m., and The Ron Burgundys will perform soft rock from the 1960s, 70s and 80s at 5:15 p.m.
Sunday evening’s headliner will be Sixteen Candles at 8 p.m., organizers said.
Monday’s lineup includes Rick Lindy and the Wild Ones performing hits of Elvis, Johnny Cash and the Beatles at noon. This will also feature a complimentary lunch for military veterans in the sponsors’ area near Jackson Avenue and Main Street.
Closing out the Last Fling will be Hi Infidelity, which takes the stage at 3:45 p.m. Monday, and will be performing 1980s rock favorites of Journey, Bon Jovi, Boston and more.

Neighbors in Need holding pickleball fundraiser
Neighbors in Need, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing clothing and essential resources to individuals experiencing homelessness, will hold a pickleball tournament with Solve and Succeed, a student-led organization that provides tutoring to children around the world.
The event is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday, April 12 at the Frontier Park Pickleball Courts, 3380 Cedar Glade Dr.
Organizers said the tournament will feature friendly competition while raising funds to support underserved populations both locally and globally. Proceeds will support Neighbors in Need’s mission to provide clothing to those in need, as well as future collaborative outreach efforts with Solve and Succeed.
Admission is $26 per team with a chance to compete for a $150 grand prize.

North Central College presents musical ‘Rent’
North Central College will present the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical “Rent” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 23 to Saturday, April 25 and at 2 p.m. Saturday April 25 and Sunday, April 26 at Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave., Naperville.
Tickets are on sale now for $14 for general admission. The production is free for North Central College students, faculty and staff.
The musical follows a year in the life of a group of young artists and musicians struggling to survive in New York’s Lower East Side under the shadow of HIV/AIDS, the college said.
The production contains mature themes and language.
The company includes Daniel Sarmiento, Lucas Fawer, Brandon Luna, Isaac Iga, Autumn Dunn, Kenny Miller, Dana Cavada, Lily Barger, Riley Knoop, Luke Gordon, Christina Raz, Marisa Blomberg, Isabella Creech, Mariella Santoro, Suzy Summers, Bella Hallberg and Ashley Chavez.
During the production, there will be an art gallery, “Love Against Oppression,” in the upper lobby of Pfeiffer Hall, including a display of parts of the AIDS quilt from the National AIDS Memorial Foundation.

DuPage Animal Friends plan fundraising gala
Tickets are on sale for DuPage Animal Friends Furever Friends Gala to be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, May 15 at the Chicago Marriott Oak Brook, 1401 W. 22nd St., Oak Brook.
The evening features silent and live auctions, raffle prizes, a photo booth, a four-course dinner, signature drinks, entertainment with magician David Ranalli and stories about animal rescues and second chances, organizers said.
Proceeds support the DuPage County Animal Services.
Tickets are $250 each, two tickets for $450, or a table of 10 for $2,000.
