NAPERVILLE EVENTS TO CELEBRATE EARTH MONTH

The City of Naperville, Naperville Park District and other area organizations are holding several opportunities to celebrate the 56th annual Earth Day.

Various community events, plant sales and volunteer opportunities will be available throughout Earth Month in April.

Knoch Knolls Nature Center will host hands-on exhibits, displays and activities centering on the theme, “Wildlife Conservation Success Stories.” Community members can learn about the conservational plight of various local species in the month-long exhibit, a park district news release said. The park district and the Naperville Police Department will cosponsor a free shredding event from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 11, at Centennial Beach, 500 Jackson Ave. Participants may bring up to two large cardboard banker boxes or paper bags not exceeding 10 pounds each to be shredded, district officials said.

Volunteers can register through Sunday, April 5, to take part in the 35th annual DuPage River Sweep, which will be held by The Conservation Foundation from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 18. For more information, go to theconservationfoundation.org.

Various tree and plant sales will take place throughout April and May, including the city’s annual Arbor Day Tree Sale, which closes at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 22. The Morton Arboretum is offering an Arbor Day Plant Sale from April 23-25 near the arboretum’s main Route 53 entrance in Lisle. Timed-entry tickets go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, April 15. More than 32,000 plants will be for sale, including trees, shrubs, vines, ferns, hostas, native plants, perennials and ornamental grasses. For more information, go to www.mortonarb.org.

The Conservation Foundation will host its annual McDonald Farm Plant Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at the farm, 10S404 Knoch Knolls Road. A wide selection of native perennials and grasses, organic vegetable and herb seedling varieties, organic compost, rain barrels and other items are being sold.

NAPERVILLE REAL ESTATE FIRM WINS WBBM AWARD

Presto Real Estate + Services of Naperville was recently named a runner-up in WBBM Newsradio’s “Made in Chicago Business Challenge.”

As part of the award, the company will receive a professionally produced 30-second ad campaign that will run through the end of the month, a news release said.

Presto Real Estate + Services was recognized for its business model, which also offers real estate-related services such as packing, moving, home preparation and estate cleanouts, the release said. The company, founded in 2015, said it tries to make selling and buying a home a less stressful experience.

The “Made in Chicago Business Challenge” honors local businesses that demonstrate resilience, innovation and community impact, the release said.
