No one was injured during a fire in a detached garage of a home on Aurora’s West Side in the early hours of Monday morning, according to the Aurora Fire Department.
At around 1:14 a.m. on Monday, the fire department responded to a reported structure fire in the 400 block of North Harrison Avenue, the department said in a news release.
Upon arrival, crews encountered a detached garage fire, with exposure concerns to nearby structures, the news release said. The incident was then upgraded to a second alarm based on the conditions reported at the scene, according to officials.
Firefighters deployed hose lines and began fire attack operations while additional crews took on water supply and overhaul efforts, the news release said. The fire was ultimately brought under control within around 10 minutes of crews arriving.
No one was inside the structure at the time of the fire, and all residents were accounted for, the department said. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters reported.
The primary residence remained habitable following the fire, the release said, but the detached garage and two vehicles inside were deemed a total loss. Nearby homes sustained minor heat damage, according to officials.
In all, 24 personnel — four engine companies, two truck companies, two medic units and two chief officers — responded to the scene, per the release. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the department’s fire investigators.
