Police said preliminary reports show one group of men was playing pool inside the billiards hall when another group entered at about 2 a.m. Saturday. The first group left about 10 minutes later, and the second group followed them outside, police said.
One of the members of the second group was Juan Rendon, 31, of Oak Lawn. Rendon brandished a handgun at the first group, and in response, a member of the first group with a concealed carry license retrieved a gun from his car, police said.
An exchange of gunfire ensued, and Rendon was shot multiple times. The other man was shot once, and is in critical condition, police said.
Both men were taken to the hospital, and Rendon was pronounced dead at 2:40 a.m. The Cook County medical examiner’s office listed Rendon’s cause of death as multiple gunshot wounds.
No charges had been filed as of Monday afternoon, the spokesperson said.
