
Snow showers and patchy blowing snow is expected to continue in the Chicagoland area Wednesday as temperatures fall into the high teens in the night hours, weather officials said.
Current afternoon conditions at O’Hare International Airport are mostly cloudy and breezy at 21 degrees with a wind chill of negative 6 degrees. Farther south at Midway Airport, conditions are mostly cloudy and windy at 22 degrees with a wind chill of negative 6 degrees.
Wednesday night, officials expect scattered flurries and blustery conditions with temperatures falling in the high teens.
A hazardous weather outlook was given for portions of north central, northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana with an elevated risk in Porter County, Indiana. Wind-driven accumulating lake-effect snow is expected to reduce visibility on the roadways Wednesday through Thursday morning across northwest Indiana.
In other places a period of gusty snow showers Wednesday morning may sharply reduce visibility and accumulations of an inch of snow in parts of northeast Illinois, officials said.
Dangerous travel conditions are expected.
