A 10-year-old child was found safe after being in the rear seat of a stolen vehicle Friday night in the Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side, Chicago police said.
Shortly before 11:30 p.m., a 30-year-old man exited his running vehicle in the 7300 block of South Lafayette Avenue where a 10-year-old child was sitting in the back seat. When the man returned, he saw two people enter his car and flee the scene.
A description of the vehicle was sent over police scanner radio and a short time later the stolen vehicle was discovered in the 7400 block of South Stewart Avenue with the child inside, police said.
No injuries were reported, and no one was in custody.
