A northwest suburban couple that allegedly engaged in “inappropriate sexual contact with a dog” and filmed it is facing felony charges, McHenry County State’s Attorney Randi Freese announced Saturday morning.
Efin Nolte, 23, and Katelyn Heiden, 27, both of Huntley, were arrested Friday by the Huntley police. Nolte was charged with sexual conduct with an animal and Heiden with aiding sexual conduct with an animal, authorities said.
Nolte allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with the dog while Heiden recorded it at their home, according to the state’s attorney’s office.
Huntley police said they received a report of the video in July and began an investigation. Detectives examined and analyzed the couple’s electronic devices on Friday, police said, adding that Nolte and Heiden were taken into custody based on the evidence they collected.
The state’s attorney’s office said “despite the abhorrent nature of these crimes,” Nolte and Heiden were released pending trial because sexual conduct with an animal isn’t a detainable offense under the SAFE-T Act.
Their next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 12.
