A man was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday evening along a Zion road, according to Lake County authorities.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Darren Lucas, 59, of Beach Park.
Authorities said Lucas was hit by a vehicle at 5:46 p.m. Monday near the intersection of 33rd Street and Sheridan Road.
Police officers who responded to the scene found Lucas unresponsive. He was brought to Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan, where he was pronounced dead.
Other details about the crash were not immediately available. The accident remains under investigation by Zion police and the Major Crash Assistance Team.
A Tuesday autopsy showed Lucas died from blunt force injuries, the coroner’s office said.
