The Kane County Health Department has launched an education campaign meant to help residents access “clear, trustworthy information” about respiratory illnesses and vaccines, according to a news release from the county.

The campaign — called Your Health, Your Choice — is intended to emphasize that “informed choices are empowered choices,” per the news release, and is meant to provide residents with facts about the flu, COVID-19 and respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV.

“Everyone deserves access to reliable information about their health,” Kane County Health Department Executive Director Michael Isaacson said in the release. “Our role is to provide accurate, easy-to-understand information so individuals can make the choices that are right for them.”

The release notes that the flu, COVID-19 and RSV can spread easily, especially in colder months, and says that vaccines “remain a key tool for preventing serious illness and hospitalization.”

Isaacson, in the news release, said the informational campaign “isn’t about telling people what to do.” The county’s health department is encouraging residents to speak with their health care providers and refer to sources like the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Illinois Department of Public Health and the Kane County Health Department’s website before making decisions on vaccination.

The campaign information will be distributed on the health department’s social media pages. Individuals looking for more information can go to https://www.kanehealth.com/Pages/Respiratory.aspx.
