An SUV that crashed into the campaign office of a Dolton trustee led to the driver and two other people being treated at a nearby hospital Sunday.

Kiana Belcher was using the office at 14200 Martin Luther King Drive as her campaign headquarters as she seeks election to the 5th District Cook County board seat in 2026. The office is no longer usable after the crash through the building’s main entrance, Belcher said Monday.

“I don’t know if it was intentional or not,” Belcher said. “But at this point, I just know that the vehicle landed directly in the middle of the campaign office.”

A news release prepared by village spokesperson Nakita Cloud said the SUV was traveling west on 142nd Street and struck a light post before crashing into Belcher’s campaign office.

The driver was treated for nonlife-threatening injuries. No campaign staff members, volunteers or pedestrians were injured, Belcher said.

The office was boarded up Monday, with Belcher confirming she would need to relocate her campaign office. She said she planned to set up a tent or a mobile office to continue work on the campaign.

“These kinds of things make you stronger,” Belcher said. “This is just going to make me continue to move forward and keep going with my campaign.”

Belcher thanked community members for sending her an outpouring of support following the crash.

“They see that this movement and this journey is not about me — it’s about making sure the people get what they deserve and me being the voice for that,” Belcher said.

Belcher was reelected earlier this year as part of the Clean House slate opposing former Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard. Henyard has been under federal investigation, though no charges have been filed.

Dolton police were unable to provide more information regarding the crash Monday afternoon.
