A semi truck collision with a South Holland overpass Thursday afternoon led to the brief closure of U.S. Route 6 between Wasau Avenue and State Street, officials said.

The village warned of the closure in a social media post at 1 p.m., and provided a photo showed a large container pushing up against the overpass, blocking the road. A sign above the overpass says it allows 13 feet, 9 inches of clearance for vehicles.

Police later said a shipping container being carried by a semi got stuck under the viaduct, but no other vehicles were involved and nobody was injured.

The container was removed and Route 6 was clear and back open to traffic by 2 p.m.
