A Geneva couple in their 80s who died last week in a car crash have been identified, according to a news release Wednesday from the Kane County Coroner’s Office and Geneva Police Department.
On Sept. 5 at around 1:40 p.m., a dark blue, 2020 BMW X3 was traveling east on Bricher Road approaching Fisher Drive in Geneva, according to the preliminary investigation. A blue, 2005 Toyota Corolla was attempting to turn west onto Bricher Road from Fisher Drive, and the BMW struck the Toyota and pushed the car east of the intersection, according to past reporting.
The crash sent the BMW off the roadway into a wooded brush area north of the intersection, where it sparked with fire, which was quickly extinguished by firefighters, according to past reporting.

in the crash, officials said.The driver, who has since been identified as Dennis White, 85, was taken to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva following the crash and later pronounced dead, according to the news release from the Kane County Coroner’s Office and Geneva Police Department. Ritsuko White, 88, his wife, a passenger in the Toyota, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both individuals were taken to the Kane County Morgue for further examination, according to the news release. Autopsy results indicate the preliminary cause of both of their deaths to be consistent with multiple traumatic injuries from a motor vehicle crash, according to the news release.
The driver of the BMW was a 19-year-old man, and there were three passengers ages 18 to 20 in the vehicle, according to the release. The driver and two of the passengers were medically released at the scene, and one passenger was taken to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital, the release said.
No charges have been filed, per the release, and the case remains under investigation by the Geneva Police Department, Kane County Coroner’s Office and Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team.
