East Dundee toddler’s photo to appear in Times Square video

A photograph of 3-year-old Isaiah Marrero, of East Dundee, is one of 500 to be featured in a video promoting the work of the National Down Syndrome Society that will run in New York City’s Times Square in September.

Isaiah’s mother, Nidia, said in a social media post that his photo was one of about 2,600 the nonprofit received for the promotion.

“We’re beyond grateful and honestly still can’t believe it,” she wrote. “Seeing our sweet boy’s face light up the heart of NYC (is) a proud family moment and a powerful moment of representation and awareness for all individuals with Down Syndrome.”

The family plans to travel to New York to see Isaiah’s image on the Times Square screen and to take part in the society’s Buddy Walk being held Saturday, Sept. 6, in Central Park.
