Just one year after opening its first Illinois location in North Aurora, indoor slide park Slick City plans to launch in Orland Park next month with a facility next to Sky Zone Trampoline Park outside Orland Square.
While Slick City Action Park operates 18 locations across the United States, the Orland Park facility will nearly double the size of that in North Aurora and will be the first to offer laser tag, said Anna Biby, an area manager for Innovative Heights, which owns Slick City.
The company markets itself as “the world’s first indoor dry-slide and air court park designed for all ages,” according to the news release announcing the upcoming Orland Park venture.
“We love the Chicago market,” Biby said.
She said the company’s North Aurora has been successful since opening in October.
Slick City is constructing 20 locations and is excited to expand its reach throughout the Midwest, Biby said.
“Just hearing everyone kind of like, ‘oh, we’re driving in from Indiana,’ ‘oh, we’re driving in from Wisconsin,’ and Kentucky and all these different areas — people were willing to drive to experience something new,” Biby said.
“That kind of gave us the motivation and the thoughtfulness to expand into some of these markets that we might not have thought of before.”
Biby said the company has not set an opening date as it is waiting on final permit approvals, but said it is on track to welcome guests in mid-September. Its 55,000-square-foot space under construction is adjacent to Orland Park’s Sky Zone trampoline park at 66 Orland Square Drive.
Slick City Action Park, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, prioritizes offering experiences that appeal to people of all ages, Biby said, with its indoor slides mimicking a water park experience without the water. Parks include junior areas for children under age 5, though all slides are open to those 4 and older.
“We actually just had someone celebrate their 80th birthday at one of our locations, so when we say we have something for everyone, we truly mean it,” Biby said.
Signature slides planned for Orland Park include the blue, half-pipe shaped Big Wave, which launches the rider down a steep drop that builds enough speed to glide back and forth.

Orland Park’s Slick City will also feature a new slide, the Turbo Twin, which allows visitors to race side-by-side. Biby said a room in the facility was left empty to eventually accommodate a mini golf course.
Slick City Vice President of Operations Kevin Dugal said in the release that the park’s opening will create more than 80 jobs.
“We’re continuing to expand in communities where there’s a real appetite for something new, while also introducing features that reflect how the brand is growing and evolving,” Dugal said.
A spokesperson for Orland Park did not respond to requests for comment.
