
Clarendon Hills is hosting a parade and downtown celebration Friday to celebrate the village’s Little League Baseball team, which recently made its first appearance in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
Clarendon Hills village President Eric Tech, in a statement issued Wednesday, said “we are extremely proud of the team and what they’ve accomplished! Watching the way the community has come together to cheer them on has been one of the most memorable moments in Clarendon Hills. These young athletes have shown us what teamwork, dedication and community spirit can achieve and for that they deserve a heros’ homecoming celebration.”
A parade will begin at 5:15 p.m., starting at the police station, 448 Park Ave., and wind its way around some streets, before finishing on Prospect Avenue downtown. A downtown party starts at 6 p.m., with a stage, Jumbotron, band/ PA System for recognition and a beer trailer.

Street closures, consistent with those implemented during the weekly summer Dancin’ in the Street concerts, will begin at 3 p.m., and impacted streets will reopen by 10 p.m., according to information from the village.
Clarendon Hills advanced to the Little League World Series by winning championships at the District, State and Region levels.
After a World Series loss Aug. 13 to the Mountain Region champions from Nevada, Clarendon Hills bounced back Saturday to beat the Mid-Atlantic winners from Pennsylvania. A loss Sunday to Hawaii eliminated Clarendon Hills from the double-elimination competition.
