The incident occurred about 11:25 p.m. when the two suspects approached four men — one 17 years old, the second 18 and two others 19 — seated inside a vehicle parked in a driveway, according to Carpentersville Deputy Police Chief Kevin Stankowitz and a news release from the Carpentersville Police Department. A confrontation ensued, and three of the people in the vehicle were shot.
The vehicle’s driver tried to get them to a local hospital while a passenger called 911 for help. Police located the victims at the intersection of Randall Road and Broadsmore Drive in Algonquin, where they began administering life-saving measures, reports said.
“(The officers’) swift actions ensured that all three victims were promptly transported to area hospitals,” the news release said.
Two of of the men were treated and released while the third remains hospitalized in stable condition.
Algonquin police said they shut down all lanes of Randall Road between Longmeadow Parkway and Broadsmore Drive so Carpentersville police could evaluate the scene.
The case remains under investigation by Carpentersville police, who said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and poses no ongoing threat to the public, according to the release.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Carpentersville police detective Sgt. Abdiel Acevedo at 224-293-1716 or submit an anonymous tip through an online portal at www.cville.org.
Stankowitz said the shooting was not related to an arrest made of a man on Commerce Parkway in Carpentersville Thursday morning by the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service. No details on that incident have been released.
