An overnight vehicular fire ignited a townhome in Naperville, causing $110,000 in damages and leaving at least one person displaced, according to a news release from the Naperville Fire Department.
Authorities received a call around 12:46 a.m. on Tuesday about a vehicle on fire in the driveway of a townhome in the 500 block of Scots Drive. The caller said that the vehicle on fire was in close proximity to the residence, according to the release.
Upon arrival, authorities found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames, with those flames extending into the residence. Occupants of the townhome evacuated the building prior to the fire department’s arrival.
Around 1:10 a.m., the fire was declared under control, the release said. Crews stayed on scene for an extra 30 minutes to fully extinguish any hot spots.
DuPage County building inspectors deemed the fire unit uninhabitable, with adjoining units suffering minor damage. No civilians or firefighters were injured.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
