Police said 11 apartments and two businesses in downtown Aurora were evacuated Saturday evening after reports of bricks falling from a building on East Galena Boulevard.

The residents from 102 and 104 E. Galena Blvd. were evacuated as emergency responders worked to assess the structure, Aurora police said in an alert.

All residents have found temporary housing according to the property managers on site, Aurora police said in a Facebook post Saturday evening.

East Galena Boulevard was shut down between Broadway and Lasalle Street Saturday evening so an engineer could inspect the structure and repairs could be made, police said in the post.

The eastbound lanes of East Galena Boulevard reopened on Sunday afternoon, with full traffic on the road between Broadway and Lasalle expected to resume by Monday, police said Sunday.
