Three people were forced out of their home Friday by an early morning fire that caused about $75,000 in damage, according to the Naperville Fire Department.

Firefighters answering a call about 3:35 a.m. arrived to find a fire in the unfinished attic of a house in the 200 block of South Columbia Street in Naperville’s Historic District, a news release said. A hose line extended to the attic extinguished the blaze in about 15 minutes.

Crews spent another 90 minutes assisting the residents with salvaging their belongings and conducting overhaul operations, the release said.

The cause of the fire, which resulted in no injuries, is under investigation. The city deemed the home uninhabitable, the release said.
