Suspected drowning is the preliminary cause of death for a man who died last week at Centennial Beach in Naperville, the DuPage County coroner’s office confirmed Monday.
An official cause of death will determined after the results of toxicological testing are returned, the coroner’s office said.
The victim, identified as 27-year-old Manuel Jose Rosales Yajure, of Streamwood, was swimming towards a floating dock at Centennial Beach when he disappeared early Thursday evening, Naperville police said. When his friends realized Yajure was no longer with them, they returned to shore to search for him and then alerted lifeguards.
Yajure was located and removed unconscious from the water about 15 minutes later, the police report said. He was taken to Endeavor Health Edward Hospital in Naperville, where he was later reported dead.
There was no indication of foul play, police said.
