A South Elgin man has been charged with more than a dozen counts of owning, reproducing and sharing child porn videos, Kane County officials said.
Colin J. McCambridge, 38, of the 900 block of Kane Street, faces two counts each of child pornography disseminating moving depiction and child pornography reproducing moving depiction and 10 counts of child pornography possessing moving depiction, according to a news release from the Kane County state’s attorney’s and sheriff’s offices.
The first four counts are class X felonies and the rest class 2 felonies.
Prosecutors allege McCambridge possessed, reproduced and disseminated multiple videos containing child porn between Nov. 8, 2024, and June 16, 2025, based on evidence gathered by the Kane County Child Exploitation Unit, the release said.
At his first court hearing Wednsesday, a Kane County judge ruled McCambridge could be released from jail while his case goes through court system with the stipulations that he not have contact with anyone under the age of 18 and he not access the internet, the release said.
His next court appearance is scheduled for July 23.
