A precautionary boil order for Lake Bluff water customers was lifted Thursday morning, approximately 24 hours after it was issued.

The village announced residents can once again use tap water for common purposes, including cooking and drinking, without the need for boiling.

“The decision to lift this boil order comes after thorough testing and confirmation that the water quality meets safety standards as per the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA),” the village said in a statement.

The precautionary boil order went into effect early Wednesday morning after the discovery of a drop in the village’s water pressure. That loss in pressure was due an error in the water operating system software, according to the village.
