Santana tribute band to play at Izaak Walton Reserve in Elgin

Hanover Township’s free summer concert series kicks off with a performance by Santana tribute act Fuze Band from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at the Izaak Walton Reserve, 899 Jay St., Elgin.

Da Pizza Company Food Truck will be onsite selling food, according to a Facebook post for the event. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Offsite parking will be available at Huff Elementary School, 801 Hastings St.

Sleepy Hollow’s new Market in the Hollow launches Sunday

Sleepy Hollow will debut its new Market in the Hollow from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, June 8, in Sabatino Park, 145 Thorobred Lane.

Vendors selling produce, homemade crafts and other goods will be featured, according to a Facebook post for the event. There also will be activities for children.

Elgin library holding June 12 program to celebrate Pride Month

The Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin will be holding “Well Versed,” an event celebrating Pride Month, from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at its downtown location, 270 N. Grove Ave.

Hosted by Elgin Pride: ELGtq+ Youth Outlook, Belong: Fox Valley and the Elgin Poet Laureate Project, the evening will feature poems, songs and other entertainment, according to a social media post. Registration is encouraged, but not required.

Open Door to offer free HIV/AIDS testing June 13 and 19

Open Door Health Center of Illinois will offer two events to obtain free, confidential HIV/AIDS testing in Elgin.

The first will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, June 13, at BEA’s Touch of Style, 1 National St., and the second from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at Royal Plant Care, 54 National St., Suite A.

Huffman Vendor Fair market opens Sunday in East Dundee

The Huffman Vendor Fair Summer Market opens for the season on Sunday, June 8, outside The Depot, 319 N. River St., East Dundee.

Held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Sunday through Aug. 31, the market features a variety of craft vendors, according to the event website. This Sunday, volunteers from Hoof Woof and Meow pet rescue will have dogs and cats available for adoption.

Summertime open gym program available at Izaak Walton center

The Hanover Township open gym program is available weekdays through Friday, Aug. 8, at the Izaak Walton Youth Center & Reserve, 899 Jay St., Elgin.

Open to ages 5 through 16, the summer program is available from noon to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and offers team building activities, outdoor recreation, STEM projects, and arts and crafts activities, according to a news release.

The township also offers similar programs Monday through Friday at locations in Hanover Park and Streamwood.
