The British rock band The Who has announced a farewell tour that will bring them to the United Center in Chicago for a concert on Sept. 7.

Tickets will be available starting with a Citi card presale and through the Who Fan Club on May 13. According to the announcement on Thursday, additional presales will run for the week ahead of the public sale at 10 a.m. May 16 at thewho.com/tour.

The tour, titled “The Song Is Over North America Farewell Tour” and named after The Who’s 1971 song, reportedly will include guitarist Pete Townshend and vocalist Roger Daltrey playing from their entire six-decade catalog.

The tour will be presented by Live Nation; more information about the Whooligan Fan Club at shop.thewho.com. Ticket prices have not yet been announced but reportedly will include multiple VIP levels.

The Who, considered one of the foundational bands of rock ‘n’ roll, formed in 1964 along with bassist John Entwistle and drummer Keith Moon and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990. Apart from the band, Townshend’s career has brought him to Chicago frequently lately. He co-created a recent revival of the Broadway stage musical “The Who’s Tommy,” which had its world premiere at Chicago’s Goodman Theatre in 2023 and opened in New York last year.

In the initial announcement, the tour includes 14 stops, with two-night stops currently only in Los Angeles and Toronto.
