Illinois State Police shut down the Edens Expressway after an early morning crash north of Touhy Avenue where one person was reported dead and another injured.

About 3:50 a.m. Tuesday, Illinois state troopers responded to a rollover crash involving a semitrailer on I-94 southbound of North Touhy Avenue, ISP said.
Preliminary information indicates the semitruck overturned and caught fire. One person involved in the crash suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead. The other injured person was taken to a local hospital for treatment, officials said.
All southbound lanes were shut down shortly before 4 a.m. and were to remain closed while troopers investigate.
Shortly after 9:15 a.m., a state police spokesperson estimated the Edens would reopen in about one to two hours.
