An autopsy performed Saturday was inconclusive on how a 30-year-old man died after his lifeless body was found on a Near North Side street early that day, according to authorities.

The body was found on the ground in the 800 block of North State Street around 1:15 a.m., according to Chicago police.

The man, later identified as Owen Hughes, suffered unspecified trauma to his body, police said.

Hughes was pronounced dead at the scene and his body taken to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Belmont Area detectives were handling the case as a death investigation, according to police.
