Woman found dead near West Side playground died in assault: Autopsy

A woman found dead at a Garfield Park playground was a homicide victim, according to authorities.

The unidentified woman was found around 5 p.m. Monday at Horan Park, located at 3035 W. Van Buren St. on the city’s West Side, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy conducted Tuesday ruled her death a homicide due to multiple injuries.

Chicago police released no details on the incident but did say that no one was in custody related to the death as Harrison Area detectives continued their investigation.
