Elgin police responding to a call about 1:15 p.m. in the 400 block of Summit Street located the injured adult male, a Facebook post on the incident said. The man was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
No name, age or address for the victim, how many shots were fired or other details about the crime were released by police other than “preliminary information suggested the victim and offender engaged in a conversation prior to the shooting,” according to the post.
Police did not identify the restaurant but it is the only building, business or otherwise, located in the 400 block of Summit Street.
