The death of a suburban woman who plunged to her death Wednesday evening from the roof of a building at the center of the Magnificent Mile shopping district was ruled a suicide.

The 43-year-old woman fell from the roof of a building in the 600 block of North Michigan Avenue around 6:30 p.m., police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy on Thursday determined she died of multiple injuries in the fall and the death was ruled a suicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

It was unclear how the woman gained access to the roof of the city block-sized multi-story building that housed several businesses, including a movie theater, clothing stores and the former Grand Luxe Cafe.
