Online furniture retailer Wayfair is planning to open an outlet store in Naperville this fall.
It will be located at 324 S. Route 59 in the Westridge Court strip mall, a Wayfair spokesperson confirmed in an email Tuesday. It would be Wayfair’s only outlet in Illinois and fifth outlet in the United States.

New York-based Brixmor Property Group confirmed through a spokesperson that Wayfair “just signed” a lease for the location.
Wayfair opened its first outlet in Florence, Kentucky, in 2018. Wayfair’s other outlets are located in San Marcos, Texas; Deer Park, New York; and Greensboro, North Carolina.
Wayfair’s Naperville outlet will be about 23,000 square feet, the spokesperson said. It will sell returns from online purchases as well as discounted items in good condition across a large number of product categories.
Customers will be able to browse the outlet inventory online, but products will only be available for purchase in-store.
The beginnings of Wayfair date back to 2002, according to the company’s website. In its early years, the venture operated as hundreds of specialized websites offering a wide variety of home products. In 2011, the sites merged to create what’s known as Wayfair today. The company now has a presence across the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland and Germany.
Wayfair’s plans for a Naperville outlet mark the company’s second physical push into Illinois this year. In May, the retailer launched its inaugural large-format store in Wilmette, about an hour northeast of Naperville.
Wayfair, which has corporate headquarters in Boston, sells anything from rugs and décor to kitchen supplies and appliances. Wayfair Inc. brands include Wayfair, AllModern, Birch Lane, Joss & Main, Perigold and Wayfair Professional.
Asked about Wayfair’s outlet plans for Naperville, Bill Novack, director of the city’s Transportation, Engineering and Development department, said that as of Monday, city staff had not received or heard of any plans or permit requests from Wayfair.
