Pitchfork Music Festival: Get ready for a long weekend, Chicago, because Pitchfork is here. With some festivals, you can wait out the heat and show up for the headliners, but that doesn’t work with this one. It’s a deep lineup, one where it’s hard to sort out who’s a headliner and who isn’t: Jamie XX, Carly Rae Jepsen, Alanis Morissette, Brittany Howard, Black Pumas, Jai Paul, Sudan Archives, De La Soul, Grandmaster Flash, Kara Jackson and dozens more, playing on three stages. Contributing music critic Britt Julious calls Jessie Ware her Saturday must-see performer (6:15 p.m. on the Green Stage). Millennium Park 20th Anniversary Celebration: Twenty years have flown by and Millennium Park is marking its birthday with four days of concerts, art, dance and family fun. Common, the Grant Park Orchestra playing the music of John Williams, the house music and R&B act S&S Chicago Experience and a full lineup of Latino music featuring Fruko y Sus Tesos will perform. Common performs with the Grant Park Orchestra 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, concluding with celebratory fireworks at 8:45 p.m. Free reserved seats are taken, but seating on the Great Lawn is free until it reaches capacity, gates open at 5 p.m. The rest of the celebration runs through July 21 in Millennium Park, 201 E. El Gran Festival Colombiano: If you miss salsa favs Fruko y Sus Tesos at Millennium Park, you have another chance to catch the show at El Gran Festival Colombiano, along with Jorge Celedón, Grupo Niche, a lineup of international DJs and much more. The three-day festival, which also features a free kids’ sports summer camp, marks Colombian Independence Day on July 20. July 19-21 at Northeastern Illinois University, 3701 W. Sad Summer: No shortage of music festivals in town this weekend. The Sandra Delgado Experience: Chicago theatergoers know actress and playwright Sandra Delgado from her critically acclaimed work at the Goodman and Steppenwolf theatres, perhaps most notably “La Havana Madrid.” Now Delgado explores her musical influences in a show ranging from Colombian cumbias to English-language indie tunes. 8 p.m. July 19 at the Epiphany Center for the Arts, 201 S. “Beehive — The 60’s Musical”: Relive pop hits of Lesley Gore, Tina Turner, Janis Joplin and more, as the show that ran for more than 600 performances off-Broadway pops up in Chicago. Zine Camp: Zine Club Chicago hosts a free event in Bridgeport offering the opportunity to make, trade and workshop zines. “A Prairie Home Companion”: Garrison Keillor brings the 50th anniversary tour of the beloved Minnesota Public Radio program to the Chicago Theatre. Southside Summer Fest: Marist High School hosts BoDeans as part of a three-band lineup at Southside Summer Fest. Bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on the football field, or sit in the stands.
