Illinois secretary of state offices are once again running at full steam, after an outage that affected some driver’s license services Thursday morning, a spokesman said.
The network that connects driver’s license offices in each state, administered by the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators, went down Thursday morning, Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias’ office said. That meant the offices were unable to access a database search tool needed to verify information, including a driver’s eligibility for a license, spokesman Max Walczyk said in a statement.
Vehicle registration services and on-site driving tests were not affected, he said.
The system was back up and running by about 11:30 a.m., Walczyk said. Residents who had morning appointments were notified of the outage, and their appointments were rescheduled.
