The Lake County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force is investigating the shooting death of a woman who was found on a Gary sidewalk Saturday night.
Gary Police were called around 11:05 p.m. March 2nd to the 300 block of West 30th Avenue for a welfare check on a woman lying on the sidewalk, Gary Police spokesman Cmdr. Sam Roberts said in an email on March 3. An officer found the woman, who appeared to be injured, Roberts said.
Gary paramedics arrived and determined the woman, who the Lake County Coroner’s office identified as Diamond Manning, 21, of Gary, was dead from gunshot wounds.
