Tinley Park’s Chris Vitt lands Coach of the Year honor
Tinley Park High School’s Chris Vitt is the recipient of the 2023 Athletico Coach of the Year award.
This award recognizes coaches like Vitt for all they do to serve their local communities, including sportsmanship, coaching success and classroom involvement, according to a news release from Athletico. Coach Vitt will receive an engraved award, a $250 Amazon gift card and an Athletico prize package.
Vitt has a long legacy at Tinley Park as both a social studies teacher and as the varsity head football coach, among coaching several other sports throughout his 17-year tenure.
A year after taking over the varsity football program in 2022, Tinley Park posted a winning record and earned a trip to the state playoffs this past fall. However, Vitt’s focus was not only on achieving a winning record but also the personal growth of his athletes, the release stated.
