A former lifeguard at the Glenview Park Center has been charged with allegedly “exposing himself” to two children at the center, officials said.
Zachary Cortes, 24, of the 9800 block of Bianco Terrace, Des Plaines, was charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a child and two counts of disorderly conduct following an investigation into two separate incidents at Glenview Park Center in the 2400 Chestnut Avenue, police said in a release.
On Jan. 6, a parent reported that on Jan. 5, “an unknown offender exposed himself to their minor child at the Glenview Park Center,” the release said. It said the case was immediately assigned to Glenview police detectives for investigation.
On Jan. 20, while attempting to identify the offender, police responded to a call from a Glenview Park District employee reporting “Cortes exposed himself to their minor child while working as a lifeguard at the Glenview Park Center,” said the release. Cortes was taken into custody at that time.
The investigation determined Cortes was the same suspect from the previous incident, the release said. It said the Glenview Park District told police that Cortes is no longer an employee.
Glenview police conducted their investigation with assistance from the Glenview Park District, Children’s Advocacy Center of North and Northwest Cook County, and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Cortes is scheduled for a March 13 appearance at Skokie Courthouse, according to the release.
