West Aurora School District 129 has appointed two longtime educators to new executive director roles for the 2024-25 school year.

The appointments are Ron Murphy as executive director of Human Resources and Lisa Rausch as executive director of Student Support programs, a newly created position, district officials said.

Murphy has served as assistant principal of operations at West Aurora High School for nearly nine years. He will remain in his current position through the end of the school year, officials said.

In addition to being responsible for building and grounds at the high school, Murphy manages the building budget, creates the master schedule, develops the staffing plan and conducts teacher evaluations, according to a press release from the district.

Prior to his time as assistant principal, Murphy spent one year as assistant athletic director at West Aurora High School. Murphy spent one year in a similar position when he worked as athletic director at York High School in Elmhurst School District 205 during the 2013-14 school year.

Murphy began his educational career at Oswego East High School in 2005 as a basketball and football coach, social studies teacher and later assistant athletic director.

Murphy has a bachelor’s degree in history from Northern Illinois University and a master’s degree in educational administration from National Louis University.

Rausch’s long tenure with West Aurora School District includes having spent 14 years as a school psychologist at various elementary and secondary schools in the district. One of her primary responsibilities as a school psychologist was the design, implementation and monitoring of student academic and behavioral interventions, according to the press release.

Some of her additional leadership responsibilities have included serving as the district’s school psychologist department chair and an adjunct faculty member at Aurora University.

Rausch holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Purdue University and a master’s degree in school psychology from Miami University.
