South Elgin HS senior named to state student council
Emma Greenberg, a senior at South Elgin High School, has been selected to serve on the Illinois State Board of Education’s Student Advisory Council for the 2023-24 school year.
The council is made up of students from around the state who are given “the opportunity to see the state board’s policymakers in action and work with them to provide student perspectives and concerns on the state’s education policies,” according the State Board of Education website.
Students meet throughout the year and work remotely on a research project that is presented to the board in March.
Emma plans to become a math teacher following graduation, and said in an online social media post that her School District U-46 teachers inspired her career choice.
“I can do this and make it fun in my own way,” she said.
