Glenview police are asking for the public’s help after a 82-year-old man injured in a Dec. 23 car crash in the north suburb died in hospital on Monday.

On Jan. 8, the driver of the vehicle, Jagan Mohan, 82, of Glenview, was pronounced deceased at Lutheran General Hospital, where he had remained since the accident, police said in a release. They said the cause of the accident is still under investigation by Glenview police with assistance from the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force Major Crash Assistance Team.

“The North Regional Major Crimes Task Force Major Crash Assistance Team, is the major crash assistance team, called out to major crash investigations,” police said Monday.

On Dec. 23, at about 1:40 a.m. Glenview police responded to East Lake Avenue and Evergreen Court, for a report of a single vehicle traffic accident, according to the release. It said the preliminary investigation revealed that a 2023 Cadillac sedan driven by Mohan was traveling west bound on East Lake Avenue when it crossed over the east bound lanes, left the roadway and struck a tree.

Mohan, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was transported to Lutheran General Hospital by the Glenview Fire Department where he was admitted in stable but critical condition, the release said. It asked anyone with information regarding the fatal incident to contact the Glenview Police Tip Line at 847-901-6055.
