Early Monday morning, as the jubilating embers of New Year’s parties began to smolder, Lindsey and Jordan Platts were given a new reason to celebrate as they became the first parents in Hinsdale to welcome a new member into their family.
Baby Henry Platts was born at 4:44 a.m. Jan. 1, at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Hinsdale, weighing six pounds and five ounces, and measuring nineteen and a half inches.
Henry, without prompting, raced to be the first baby born in Hinsdale, exceeding the parents’ earlier expecting date of Jan. 18.

“He came almost three weeks early, I think we were more shocked that he was the first baby of the year because we definitely weren’t expecting a New Year’s Day baby,” Lindsey said in an interview with The Doings.
The family plan to return home from the hospital on Tuesday, along with Henry’s two-year-old brother, Lane.
“It happened pretty fast for us but everything turned out great, that’s what matters,” Jordan said.
